“Stay encouraged—the Lord will use you in new ways to minister to new people in this season.  He sovereignly has your life under control and doesn’t need your help.” Thanks, SLB :)

Today was hard. Working on a Sunday is not something that I would like to continue doing on a regular basis.  The office was quiet and lonely and I felt the weight of my families’ burdens.  So many people who are hurting!  I do not pray for them nearly enough.  It seems so overwhelming to mention each one by name and too impersonal to pray for them as a group.  So pray with me for a few of...

A Miracle Birth of a Different Kind
By Stan Friedman WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 23, 2010) – Carol Chin, a mother of two young children, entered the hospital for a mastectomy in January. While being prepped for surgery, the hospital took a routine blood test. Then they told her and husband, Peter, the news. She was pregnant. Today she is cancer free, and her family is celebrating their first Christmas with their miracle baby,...

God rewrote the text of my life
God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I got my act together, He gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways; I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways He works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His...

our resemblance to Him
“When, because of your faith, your life too becomes perceptibly different; when your reactions are quite opposite to what the situation seems to call for and your activities can no longer be explained in terms of your personality; that is when your neighborhood will sit  up and take notice. In the eyes of the world, it is not our relationship with Jesus Christ that counts; it is our...

our love for God
I’ve been reading a book called At His Feet by Chris Tiegreen that’s more of a daily devotional than a chaptered book. Something I read yesterday, based on John 21:15-17, stuck with me: “What about us? Who among us has kept the great commandment [to love God] for even a few minutes? We may not consider ourselves grossly sinful. Yet the one thing we were created for—a deep, abiding, consuming...

Cry. Rest. Believe.
Just read a great article at Come & Live.  Here’s a teaser: I’m talking about prayer. How we pray and how often our prayers are either rehearsed (pre-meditating what we pray before they come out of our mouths), regurgitated (praying what we hear someone else praying, i.e. not our own) or simply religious (doing what we ought for the sake of winning God-points rather than to move Him...

Just spent most of today drawing up a budget for the new year.  I guess I’m a nerd, but I actually had fun playing around with the formulas and formatting on Excel.  I’ve tried to make a budget before, but I didn’t really have any real financial responsibilities at the time, so I didn’t realize the importance of following the budget.  Now my name is tied to several...
